Bhopal firecracker factory sealed over safety violations

Authorities in Bhopal sealed a firecracker factory in Bandikhedi village, Berasia, ahead of Diwali after finding explosive material stored above the permitted limit.

The action was carried out jointly by the district administration and police during an inspection of the premises.

The inspection team included Berasia Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shivangi Baghel, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vaishali Singh, Tehsildar Durga Patle and Gunga police station in-charge Rinku Jatav.

Officials said the factory had exceeded the authorised storage limit for explosive material. Other irregularities related to safety and operations were also found during the inspection.

The administration said the violations fell under provisions of the Explosives Act, 1884, and the Explosives Rules, 2008. The factory was sealed on the spot following the findings.

Officials said compliance with safety standards and legal requirements is mandatory for the manufacture, handling and storage of explosive materials. They warned that violations could pose a risk to public safety and said further action would be taken against establishments found breaching regulations.
