BHOPAL: A series of activities promoting wildlife conservation, biodiversity and human-wildlife coexistence were held at Van Vihar National Park in Bhopal as part of Madhya Pradesh’s State-level Wildlife Week 2026, according to a press release.

This year’s theme is “Connected Habitats, Thriving Wildlife”, highlighting the importance of protecting natural habitats, forests, water sources and ecosystems alongside wildlife.
According to the release, the day’s activities included a nature programme titled “Meet the Unseen, On the Nature Trail”, attended by 30 participants. Retired deputy forest conservators Sunil Kumar Sinha and A.K. Khare spoke about wildlife behaviour, habitats, biodiversity and ecological balance.
A Wildlife Moot Court was also organised for school students, with four teams and 24 participants taking part. The event encouraged students to discuss conservation and human-wildlife coexistence through arguments and different perspectives.
Rangoli competitions were held for school and college students. The school category, for Classes 5 to 8, attracted 85 participants, while 51 students took part in the college category.
The release said the Wildlife Moot Court was won by DPS Kolar Road, followed by Scholar Homes Public School and IAS Public School. In the school rangoli competition, Ojashwini, Mahi Bhairawat and Aradhana secured the top three positions. Pratigya Yadav, Yuti Jain and Ankita won the college category.
Further activities are scheduled for Oct. 6, including programmes on the role of forest officers, wildlife rescue and a wildlife-themed walk-through quiz.
