Bhopal: Nishatpura railway station, which had been awaiting operations for nearly three years, was officially opened on Tuesday. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav flagged off the Malwa Express from the station, marking the start of its regular halt there.
The new station has also begun serving as a stop for the Jabalpur-Veraval Somnath Express, making Nishatpura the fourth railway station in Bhopal.
The event was attended by Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Sarang, MLA Vishnu Khatri, Mayor Malti Rai, senior railway officials and local residents.
CM said Indian Railways has witnessed major changes under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He added that upcoming railway improvements would make train movement between Delhi, Ujjain and Indore smoother by reducing operational delays.
The chief minister said the station, developed at a cost of around Rs 14 crore, would improve connectivity in nearby areas and support trade, employment and local economic growth.
He said the station would also help reduce pressure on Bhopal’s main railway station, especially during major events like the upcoming Simhastha.
Minister Vishwas Sarang called the start of Nishatpura station a major development for Bhopal and the Narela assembly area, saying it would boost the city’s growth.
