MP Youth Congress Leaders Divided Over District Appointments

Differences emerged within the Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress during an organisational meeting in Bhopal on Tuesday, as several district presidents objected to the process of appointing district office-bearers.

The meeting was attended by MP Youth Congress president Yash Ghonghoriya, MP Congress Committee chief Jitu Patwari, former chief minister Digvijaya Singh and other senior Youth Congress office-bearers.

During a discussion on the formation of district executive committees, Maihar district president Saurabh Sharma said district presidents had earned their positions through organisational elections but were now being denied the authority to select their own district teams.

He alleged that the state leadership and the Indian Youth Congress leadership in Delhi were deciding appointments to district executive committees.

His views were supported by Gwalior district president Vijay Yadav, Jabalpur Rural district president Raja Shrivastava and several other district presidents present at the meeting.

Several district presidents said they had traditionally been allowed to form their district teams. However, they claimed they had now been informed that office-bearers would be nominated and appointment orders would be issued by the Indian Youth Congress.

The meeting also witnessed a brief exchange between two Youth Congress workers. According to party leaders present, the disagreement began over reporting through the organisation’s mobile application. The situation was brought under control after Yash Ghonghoriya intervened.

The BJP later criticised the Congress over the incident. BJP state media in-charge Ashish Agrawal shared a video of the exchange on social media and alleged that the meeting reflected internal differences within the Youth Congress.
