Railways Restrict Parcel Services

Bhopal: Indian Railways has temporarily restricted parcel booking and loading and unloading services at major railway stations in the Delhi region and Ludhiana until November 15, citing increased passenger traffic during Diwali and Chhath Puja.

The restrictions have been introduced to improve passenger safety and manage overcrowding during the festive season.

According to railway officials, parcel booking and loading and unloading operations will remain suspended at New Delhi, Old Delhi and Anand Vihar stations during the specified period.

However, limited parcel loading and unloading will be permitted at designated locations at Anand Vihar and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations.

The restrictions will not apply to passengers’ personal luggage or the transportation of registered newspapers and magazines, which will continue under existing railway rules.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria said the measures were intended to ensure smoother passenger movement and improve safety at busy stations during the festive rush.

Railway authorities have advised parcel customers to check the availability of services with the concerned stations before booking consignments during the restriction period.
