Woman Injured in School Van Accident

A school van carrying six children was involved in a road accident in Kohefiza, Bhopal, on Thursday morning. All six children were reported safe, while a female school staff member sustained a head injury, police said.

According to police, the van was travelling from the Panchwati area to a girls’ school when it reportedly lost control on the flyover near the Kohefiza police station and came into contact with an electricity pole.

Members of the public assisted in safely helping the children out of the vehicle before emergency services arrived. The injured staff member was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The children were later transported to school in another vehicle.

Police said preliminary findings indicate that the driver may have lost control while attempting to avoid a heavy vehicle that had come in front of the van. Authorities are also examining whether a possible mechanical issue, including suspected brake failure, may have contributed to the incident.

Investigators said the exact cause of the accident has not yet been established. The vehicle will undergo a technical inspection, and the driver’s statement will be recorded as part of the investigation.

Police said all the children are safe, and the injured staff member is receiving treatment. Further action, if required, will be taken after the investigation and technical examination are completed.
