‘Bhoot Bangla’ OTT release likely by late June after strong theatrical run

MUMBAI : Akshay Kumar’s latest horror-comedy “Bhoot Bangla”, directed by Priyadarshan, is expected to make its OTT debut following its theatrical release on April 17, although an official streaming date has not yet been announced.

The film marks the much-awaited reunion of Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan after 16 years. Their last collaboration was “Khatta Meetha” in 2010. The reunion has generated strong interest among fans, though the film has received mixed reactions during its opening week in cinemas.

According to industry reports, “Bhoot Bangla” is performing steadily at the box office and is likely to continue its theatrical run into the second week, prompting the makers to delay its OTT release to maximise cinema collections.

Reports suggest the film has already secured a post-theatrical OTT deal. However, the producers are said to be taking a cautious approach and do not want to rush the digital release while the film continues to attract audiences in theatres.

Following the current trend for major releases, most Hindi films arrive on OTT platforms within 45 to 60 days after their theatrical debut. Based on that pattern, “Bhoot Bangla” is likely to premiere online between late June and early July 2026.

If the film maintains strong footfall in cinemas, the digital release may be pushed further.

Produced by Akshay Kumar, Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, the film also stars Paresh Rawal, Jisshu Sengupta, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi.

Set in the fictional village of Mangalpur, the story revolves around a haunted mansion and a demonic entity named Vadhusur, which is said to haunt newlywed brides.
