Indore: Police have arrested the operator of a private placement consultancy in Indore over allegations of deceiving students with false job promises and allegedly using their original educational documents to demand money.
According to police, the accused, who operated a consultancy in the city’s Vijay Nagar area, allegedly collected original Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets from job seekers during the recruitment process. Investigators claim the documents were later withheld, and students were allegedly asked to pay money to have them returned.
During the investigation, police recovered 313 original mark sheets belonging to students from the consultancy premises. The documents are believed to belong to students from different districts who had come to Indore for education and employment opportunities.
Police said the action followed complaints received from affected students. Preliminary findings suggest that the consultancy allegedly used the promise of employment to obtain original documents before demanding payment for their return.
The accused has been arrested, and the case is under investigation. Police are examining whether additional people were involved in the alleged operation and are working to identify more potential victims through the recovered documents.
Authorities have urged anyone who may have submitted original documents to the consultancy and faced similar issues to contact the police and assist with the investigation. At this stage, investigators are continuing to verify the extent of the alleged fraud and the total number of students affected.
