INDORE: Five people were rescued after a fire broke out at a house near the Footi Kothi junction in Indore on Sunday night, fire officials said.
The fire was reported at about 9:15 p.m. at a house near a liquor shop. Firefighters responded quickly and, with assistance from local residents, brought the blaze under control.
Officials said the five occupants, who worked with batteries, were safely evacuated through the roof of a neighbouring building before the fire spread. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the fire. A civic official said preliminary information indicated the blaze may have originated in batteries stored on the ground floor, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
Fire and police authorities are investigating the incident.
