MP: Barwani Wedding Held Without Dowry, Liquor or DJ Music

BARWANI: A wedding ceremony organised in Junapani village under the Warla police station limits in Madhya Pradesh’s Barwani district was conducted without dowry, alcohol or DJ music as part of the police department’s ongoing “3D Campaign” against social evils.

The initiative is being led by Barwani Superintendent of Police Padmavilochan Shukla, with district police encouraging residents to avoid dowry, liquor and extravagant spending during marriage ceremonies.

According to police officials, a local resident had pledged during a community outreach programme held in Dhawli village that he would organise the weddings of his three children without dowry, alcohol or DJ music.

The pledge was fulfilled when the marriages of Krishna Nargave, Ranjita Nargave and Dina Nargave were solemnised in Junapani village following traditional customs without the use of dowry, liquor or DJ music.

Shukla attended the ceremony and extended greetings to the newlyweds. The family was also honoured with shawls and coconuts for supporting the campaign and promoting social reform in the region.

During the programme, community members were urged to discourage the practice of dowry and avoid unnecessary expenditure on liquor and DJ music during marriage functions. Police officials also interacted with villagers on road safety and traffic awareness.

Police officials, members of Gayatri Parivar and local village representatives were present during the event.
