GWALIOR: Police in Gwalior have arrested a 32-year-old man after allegedly recovering a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from his possession during a special operation against illegal firearms.
Police said officers acted on a tip-off about a suspicious man near the Rani Lakshmibai statue at Phool Bagh. The suspect allegedly tried to flee but was caught by the police.
A search allegedly led to the recovery of a .315-bore country-made pistol and two live cartridges. Police said the suspect told investigators he had brought the weapon from Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
The man has been booked under the Arms Act. Police said the investigation is continuing to determine the source of the weapon and the purpose for which it was allegedly brought to Gwalior. He is expected to be produced before a court in accordance with legal procedure.
