PK Promises Jobs and Pay Hike for Teachers

Hajipur: Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor addressed teachers in Hajipur on Sunday and highlighted demands for the seventh pay scale and employment opportunities for educated unemployed youth.

Kishor said Jan Suraaj would take responsibility for providing jobs to 10,000 educated unemployed youths if its graduate candidate won the election. He also promised to address the long-standing problems of teachers working in financially unsupported schools.

He said voters would prioritise their children’s future, teachers’ salary demands, the problems of financially unsupported teachers and employment opportunities rather than vote based on traditional political considerations.

Kishor also criticised Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi over his reported use of the word “cockroaches” for protesters in Delhi. He questioned Manjhi’s choice of words and said people did not take his remarks seriously.

Commenting on the handling of protests, Kishor said governments could deploy security personnel to restrict public movement temporarily but could not permanently suppress public movements. He argued that the reported deployment of 40,000 paramilitary personnel on the streets showed the scale of the protest and the government’s concern.

The employment promise and the reported security deployment could not be independently verified from the information provided.
