Patna: Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor (PK) has said he plans to spend Dussehra with families affected by the boat tragedy in Raghopur, Bihar, in which 13 people, mostly children, died, according to media reports.
PK said the families were mourning their losses and that he had decided to spend the day with them to offer support during their time of grief. He also criticised political leaders for visiting the area and leaving after taking photographs, according to reports.
In a separate political exchange, PK responded to remarks attributed to leaders of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). He said electoral victories and defeats were separate from the broader challenge of addressing Bihar’s development needs.
PK argued that Seemanchal’s problems required solutions from leaders familiar with the region, rather than political leaders coming from outside. He cited Hyderabad-based AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi while making his point.
The boat capsized in the Ganga near Rampur Shyamchand village in Vaishali district on 13 October. Authorities have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
