Three people have been arrested in Bihar’s Jamui after a video showing a Class 10 boy and girl being harassed surfaced online, police said.
The incident took place around 7pm on Saturday along the Jamui-Lakhisarai road. As per media reports, the two teenagers, who study at a private school in Jamui town, were returning from coaching classes on a scooter when a group stopped them.
The video shows several people surrounding the pair. One man pulls the boy away while another, wearing a mask, follows the girl and grabs her from behind. The girl is heard crying and pleading with the men to let her go.
The teenagers manage to reach their scooter, but the group follows them. The attackers again grab the girl’s arm before the video ends.
Jamui Superintendent of Police Vishwajit Dayal said police had contacted the teenager and were examining the video to identify those involved.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi condemned the incident and called for strict action under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Bihar minister Sunil Kumar also condemned the incident and said those responsible would face action. He said one incident should not be used to describe the entire state as “jungle raj”.
