New Delhi: Delhi Police has granted permission for singer Diljit Dosanjh’s concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30, a day after initially refusing approval over security concerns.
The clearance came after the organisers agreed to follow conditions set by the police, including arrangements for private security personnel, crowd management and other safety measures.
The concert faced uncertainty after police reportedly cited security concerns, threat-related inputs and law-and-order duties during the festive season.
BookMyShow Live, the concert’s ticketing partner, said it had held a constructive meeting with Delhi Police and submitted a detailed plan covering the required arrangements.
“We have assured the authorities of full compliance with all applicable security, traffic and crowd-management requirements,” the company said in a statement.
The organisers also said they would continue to work with the police and other authorities to ensure a safe event while reducing inconvenience to local residents and commuters.
According to reports, the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District, had earlier informed BookMyShow that its request to hold the Delhi leg of Diljit’s Aura India Tour could not be approved at that time.
However, Diljit’s team continued to promote the concert on social media.
The India tour follows the singer’s concerts in Europe and North America. After the Delhi show, the tour will move to Indore on November 15, Ahmedabad on November 21, Mumbai on November 27, Bengaluru on November 29 and Lucknow on December 5. A Chandigarh concert has also been announced, but its date is yet to be confirmed.
