Pritam Lodhi son absconding became the focus of a court order on Friday after a special court in Gwalior declared Dinesh Lodhi, the son of BJP MLA Pritam Lodhi, an absconder in a case registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The Special Court (Atrocities), presided over by Judge Naveen Kumar Sharma, also issued a permanent arrest warrant against Dinesh Lodhi. In addition, the court directed that the first page of the case file should carry a red ink note stating that the accused remains absconding.
The case is linked to Crime No. 106/2023, registered at Purani Chhawani Police Station in Gwalior under the SC/ST Act. According to court records, the first arrest warrant against Dinesh Lodhi was issued on December 28, 2023. However, he has allegedly failed to appear before the court despite repeated opportunities.
During Thursday’s hearing, Head Constable Sanjay Dwivedi from Purani Chhawani Police Station submitted an unexecuted arrest warrant along with a verification report before the court. After examining the documents and hearing the police submission, the court declared the accused an absconder and ordered that the case record be specially marked.
The court observed that the accused had remained out of the legal process for a prolonged period. It directed court staff to write on the front page of the file in red ink that the accused is absconding so that the status remains clearly recorded in future proceedings.
The Pritam Lodhi son absconding case has drawn attention because Dinesh Lodhi has previously been in the news over other controversies. Earlier, a video circulating on social media allegedly showed him attempting to drive a Thar SUV towards a person in Shivpuri district. However, that incident is separate from the present court proceedings.
With the permanent arrest warrant now in force, the police are expected to continue efforts to trace and arrest the accused so that further legal proceedings can take place before the special court.
