Madhya Pradesh athletes made the state proud with outstanding performances at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026. Yamini Maurya from Sagar secured a silver medal in the women’s 57 kg judo event, while Ajay Babu won silver in weightlifting.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang extended their heartfelt congratulations to both players for boosting India’s global reputation.

State cash reward and government job offer

Sports Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang connected with judo player Yamini Maurya over a video call to congratulate her directly.

He announced that under the state sports policy, both medal winners will receive significant backing:

Cash Incentive: A cash reward of Rs 25 lakh each for Yamini Maurya and Ajay Babu.

Government Employment: Official appointment to government jobs as mandated by the sports welfare policy.

Minister Sarang emphasized that Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s administration remains dedicated to delivering world-class training facilities and infrastructure to nurture local athletic talent.

Ajay Babu won silver in weightlifting.

Praise for coaches and other Indian stars

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav commended Yamini Maurya’s dedication and discipline, noting that her achievement serves as an inspiration for young women across Madhya Pradesh. He also praised her coach, Deepak Kumar, for his guidance and training.

Additionally, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav extended congratulations to other Indian medalists at the Commonwealth Games:

  • Neeraj Chopra: Silver medal in Men’s Javelin Throw.
  • Yashvir Singh: Bronze medal in Men’s Javelin Throw.
  • Tejaswin Shankar: Bronze medal in the Decathlon event.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the dedication, discipline, and hard work shown by Indian athletes on the international stage continues to motivate millions of young citizens.
