US President Donald Trump has again claimed that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, citing what he described as his efforts to resolve international conflicts.
According to media reports, Trump made the remarks in a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday, October 9. He claimed to have helped settle eight conflicts, said he was working towards resolving two more and referred to efforts involving Israeli hostages, Iran and Venezuela.
Trump also expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to award the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to South African jurist Navi Pillay and criticised the selection.
Pillay, a former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, was recognised for her work in promoting international justice and accountability for serious international crimes.
Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for helping bring about the ceasefire between India and Pakistan in May 2025. However, India has maintained that the understanding to stop military action followed direct communication between the two countries’ Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs).
New Delhi has consistently rejected claims of third-party mediation in the ceasefire process.
Trump’s latest remarks have once again drawn attention to the differing accounts of the diplomatic efforts surrounding the India-Pakistan ceasefire.
