BHOPAL: The 17-year-old daughter of an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and a judge died by suicide at her home in Bhopal’s upscale Char Imli area, police said Wednesday.
According to police, the girl, a Class 11 student, was found hanging at the residence on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities said they were informed by family members and an investigation was launched immediately. The girl’s mobile phone and digital communications have been seized for examination.
Investigators recovered a suicide note in which the teenager wrote: “Mummy-Papa, I love you very much, but I could not become a good daughter for you. I am sorry.”
Police said the note did not mention any specific reason for the suicide.
Authorities confirmed that the couple had legally adopted the girl when she was three months old.
Investigators are questioning the student’s friends and classmates to determine whether she had shown signs of emotional distress in recent weeks. Police are also examining academic pressure as a possible factor, as she had recently entered a new class.
Cyber cell officials are reviewing her social media activity and recent contacts to identify any circumstances that may have contributed to the incident.
Police said the exact cause behind the suicide remains unclear and that detailed statements from family members are yet to be recorded. Further clarity is expected after the post-mortem and forensic reports are received.
