INDORE: The brother of Raja Raghuvanshi, whose death sparked a high-profile murder investigation, has renewed his demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case, alleging delays in court proceedings related to the bail plea of the main accused, Sonam Raghuvanshi.
According to media reports, Vipin Raghuvanshi, the elder brother of the deceased, said Tuesday marked one year since Raja’s body was found in Shillong. He questioned why repeated adjournments were being granted in proceedings linked to Sonam’s bail.
Vipin alleged that hearings on a petition challenging Sonam’s bail had been postponed around 10 times. He claimed the family had been seeking justice for months and remained dissatisfied with the pace of the legal process.
According to media reports, a fresh hearing on the matter is scheduled for Wednesday. Vipin said he hoped the court would not grant relief to Sonam and that she would be sent back to jail.
He said the family had demanded a CBI investigation from the outset, but no decision had been taken on the request so far.
Drawing a comparison with the recent Twisha Sharma case in Bhopal, Vipin alleged that authorities had acted on demands for a CBI inquiry in some cases, including ordering further investigation and a repeat post-mortem examination, while no such action had been taken in his brother’s case.
He maintained that a CBI probe into the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case could help uncover additional facts and provide greater clarity.
The decision on whether to transfer the investigation to the CBI rests with the competent authorities and is subject to legal procedures. Court proceedings in the case are continuing, with attention focused on the upcoming hearing on Sonam’s bail petition.
