Warm Weather Returns to MP

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh is experiencing unusually warm weather for July after heavy rain eased across the state. Daytime temperatures have crossed 36°C in several cities, making conditions feel more like March or April. Officials say there is little chance of widespread heavy rain over the next five days, which could lead to a further rise in temperatures.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state has not recorded heavy or very heavy rainfall during the past six days. Although clouds have been seen in many areas, rainfall has remained below normal in more than half of the state’s districts.

Official figures show Madhya Pradesh has received 241.8 mm of rainfall so far this monsoon, compared with the normal average of 260 mm, leaving the state with a 7% rainfall deficit.

The eastern part of the state has recorded a 21% rainfall deficit, while the western region is around 6% below normal.

The weather department said 29 districts have received below-normal rainfall, while 26 districts have recorded above-normal rainfall.

Light rain is expected in 21 districts, but hot and humid weather is likely to continue in many other parts of the state. Officials said the absence of any major rain system means warm conditions are expected to continue over the coming days.
