Bhopal: A two-day industry-academia conclave concluded at the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) on Friday, bringing together academicians, industry leaders, entrepreneurs and students to discuss manufacturing excellence, artificial intelligence (AI), skill development and stronger industry partnerships.
The conclave, supported by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. Participants discussed AI-driven quality assurance, smart manufacturing, digital transformation of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), internships, collaborative research and curriculum aligned with industry needs.
MANIT officials said the institute has already introduced industry-oriented training through its Mechanical and Electrical Engineering departments. Under the Bajaj Engineering Skill Training (BEST) programme, around 180 mechanical engineering students have received training in manufacturing excellence, while about 30 electrical engineering students are learning skills related to electric vehicle technology.
Representatives from industries and academic institutions also discussed research partnerships, faculty-industry collaboration, shared testing facilities and technology transfer to address real-world industrial challenges.
According to organisers, the conclave recommended expanding internship opportunities, encouraging AI adoption in manufacturing, strengthening long-term industry-academia partnerships and regularly updating academic programmes. They said these initiatives are expected to improve students’ practical skills and employability while helping local industries access trained engineering talent and technology-based solutions.
