BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav visited the home of a tribal family in Thandla, Jhabua district, on Friday, where he shared a traditional meal and interacted with family members ahead of the Raksha Bandhan festival.
CM visited the home of Basant Singh Bamaniya while attending a state-level programme on capacity building and loan distribution for self-help groups. During the visit, tribal women tied rakhi on the chief minister’s wrist, and he greeted them with best wishes. He also met children, spoke with them about their studies and future, and offered them his blessings.
The chief minister sat on a traditional floor mat and ate from a leaf plate alongside the family in the courtyard of their mud house. The family served traditional tribal dishes, including urad dal and paniya, which CM praised.
After the meal, CM spoke with the family about their livelihood, education, government welfare schemes and the future of their children. He said the state government remains committed to the welfare, dignity and development of tribal communities and described their traditions and culture as an important part of Madhya Pradesh’s heritage.
According to the state government, the family has already received a permanent house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. However, they continue to live in their ancestral mud house because of its emotional value, family memories and the natural comfort it provides. The family also said they are beneficiaries of the state’s Sambal Yojana.
