BHOPAL: The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday demolished an allegedly unauthorised two-storey building in Bawadiya Kalan as part of its drive against alleged violations of building and land-use rules.
According to the civic body, the original plot measures 1,312 square metres, while a ground-plus-one (G+1) structure had been built over around 900 square metres. Officials said the approved layout designated the land as a single plot.
The municipal corporation said an inquiry allegedly found that the plot had been subdivided without authorisation and portions of the land were sold in violation of the approved layout. It also alleged that construction was carried out without the required approvals.
The structure was demolished using earthmoving machinery. Officials said the operation was carried out under the supervision of civic authorities with necessary safety arrangements in place.
The BMC urged residents to verify approved layouts and obtain all required permissions before purchasing property or beginning construction. It advised people to avoid unauthorised plotting and illegal construction, warning that violations could lead to enforcement action.
The demolition was part of the civic body’s ongoing drive against alleged unauthorised construction in the city. Officials said similar action may be taken wherever violations of approved building and planning rules are found.
