Bhopal: The Special Task Force (STF) has seized addictive cough syrup worth nearly Rs 50 lakh from the Mubarakpur area near Airport Road in Bhopal as part of its ongoing campaign against the illegal trade of narcotic substances.
The seizure was made during a raid conducted on the intervening night of May 30 and 31. Officials said the operation was based on intelligence gathered during the investigation of a previous case in the Gandhinagar area.
According to the STF, the raid led to the recovery of a large stock of cough syrups containing restricted intoxicating ingredients. The seized consignment included Off-Cuff and Onrex brands, which investigators suspect were being stored for illegal distribution.
Officials have seized the stock and sent samples for laboratory analysis. The examination will determine the composition of the syrups and help investigators establish the scale of the alleged operation.
“The investigation is focused on identifying all individuals linked to the supply chain and tracing the source of the seized stock.”
The latest seizure comes days after the STF recovered addictive cough syrup worth around Rs 1.5 crore from Gandhinagar. Inputs received during the interrogation of suspects in that case reportedly led investigators to the Mubarakpur location.
Authorities are now working to identify other people connected to the network and determine the route through which the consignments were sourced and distributed.
The STF said the investigation remains underway and further action will follow based on the findings.
