BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas of Swadeshi and self-reliance were being carried forward through efforts to promote domestic manufacturing and build a self-reliant India.
Speaking at Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre on Gandhi Jayanti, CM Dr. Yadav paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He also paid homage to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Old Vidhan Sabha Square on his birth anniversary.
As per media reports, CM said Gandhi’s emphasis on Swadeshi and Shastri’s values of simplicity, honesty and public service continued to inspire the country. He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government with promoting the Make in India and Made in India initiatives.
CM also praised Indian-origin flydubai Captain Smit Machhar for his reported actions during an incident involving an aircraft and passengers. He said the captain had shown courage and humanity while protecting passengers and helping foil the alleged plans of terrorists.
CM said Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah was scheduled to visit Bhopal on October 3. He said the Gopalak Conference would focus on increasing milk production, while programmes at IISER would support skill development.
The CM also said several development projects were scheduled to be inaugurated during Shah’s visit, including a statue of Swami Vivekananda at the IISER campus in Bhauri.
