Khan Sir Coaching Dispute: Court Relief for Khan Sir, Setback for Roshan Anand

Patna: Students once again took to the streets in Patna on Tuesday to demand the release of Roshan Anand, director of Knowledge Point Coaching, who remains in jail in connection with the dispute involving Khan Sir’s coaching institute.

The protest was the third demonstration by students since the controversy began. Students planned to march from Patna College to Kargil Chowk, but police stopped them from moving ahead. A large police force was deployed at the site and a water cannon vehicle was also kept on standby.

The students questioned the action taken by the authorities and called for a fair investigation. They argued that no one should be sent to jail before a proper inquiry is completed. Protesters also raised concerns over what they described as different treatment for people linked to the same case.

The protest came on the same day that a Patna court rejected the bail plea of Roshan Anand. The decision was seen as a setback for the coaching director, who has been in judicial custody since his arrest earlier this month.

In a separate development, the Patna Civil Court granted interim relief to Khan Sir by staying his arrest in the firing case linked to the dispute. The court directed that no coercive action should be taken against him until the next hearing or further orders.

Appearing for Khan Sir, advocate Arvind Kumar Mahuar told the court that the firing was carried out in self-defence and was not intended to create fear or threaten anyone. The court is scheduled to hear Khan Sir’s anticipatory bail plea again on June 20.

The legal proceedings also continued for two security guards associated with Khan Sir. A court heard bail applications filed by Deepak Kumar and Talebar Singh, who were arrested on June 4. After hearing both sides, the court sought evidence from the police and reserved its order. A decision on their bail pleas is expected on June 10.

The dispute began after an attack on Khan Sir’s coaching centre on June 2. Khan Sir initially claimed that multiple rounds of firing had taken place during the incident. Police later stated that they found evidence of stone-pelting and assault but not firing by attackers.

The controversy widened after a video surfaced showing security guards linked to Khan Sir allegedly firing shots. Following the video’s emergence, police questioned those involved and arrested the two guards. An FIR later stated that the guards claimed they fired after being instructed during the incident.

The case has since led to competing allegations from both coaching groups and remains under investigation. The court’s latest orders have ensured temporary relief for Khan Sir, while Roshan Anand continues to remain in custody after his bail plea was rejected.
