PANNA: An adult male tiger has been found dead in the Kishangarh core range of the Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR), according to forest officials.
The carcass was discovered on Saturday during a routine patrol in the Brijpura beat, a remote hilly area located around 3 to 4 kilometres from the nearest main route.
PTR Deputy Director Virendra Kumar Patel said a preliminary examination found all body parts of the tiger intact. Officials also reported no visible external injuries, signs of conflict with another animal, or evidence of human interference at the site.
Based on the initial assessment, forest authorities said the death appears to be natural. However, they stressed that the exact cause will only be confirmed after the post-mortem examination and forensic analysis are completed.
The latest incident is the third reported tiger death in the reserve in about three months.
In an earlier case, forest officials recovered the skeletal remains of a male tiger in the Gangau area. In another incident, a young radio-collared tiger that had previously been rescued from Tara village was later found dead. The circumstances surrounding both cases are being examined by the authorities.
Officials said the findings of the post-mortem and forensic reports will help establish the cause of the latest death. The reserve management has not announced any conclusions pending the completion of the investigation.
