No Injuries as Car Catches Fire

INDORE: A moving car caught fire on a flyover in Indore on Thursday afternoon, triggering panic among motorists and briefly disrupting traffic, officials said.

The incident occurred near Atal Bihari College in the Bhanwarkuan area at around 12.30 pm. According to fire brigade officials, smoke was seen emanating from the vehicle’s bonnet while it was travelling on the flyover. The driver immediately pulled over and exited the vehicle safely.

Witnesses said flames rapidly spread through the front section of the car, engulfing it within minutes. Thick smoke billowed from the vehicle, drawing the attention of commuters and bystanders.

Firefighters and police personnel rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the blaze. By the time emergency crews arrived, the vehicle had suffered extensive damage. The fire was subsequently brought under control.

Police temporarily closed one side of the flyover to facilitate firefighting operations and ensure public safety, leading to minor traffic congestion in the area. Normal traffic movement resumed after the situation was brought under control.

Preliminary assessments indicate that a mechanical fault may have caused the fire, although the exact cause remains under investigation.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle, however, was extensively damaged in the incident.
