GWALIOR: A fire broke out at a scrap and foam warehouse in the Sagartal area of Gwalior early Monday morning, officials said. No casualties were reported.
According to local residents, the fire started around 5 am and spread rapidly because of combustible material stored inside the warehouse. Thick smoke and flames were seen rising from the premises, causing panic in the surrounding area.
Fire brigade personnel and police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information and began firefighting and evacuation operations.
Officials said around 15 fire tenders were deployed to contain the blaze, which was later brought under control.
Residents said the heat from the fire also affected equipment at a nearby gym, with some machines reportedly damaged.
Authorities said a petrol pump and a marriage garden are located close to the site, following which precautionary measures were taken to prevent the fire from spreading further.
The incident has once again raised concerns over the operation of warehouses in residential areas. Residents alleged that some such facilities lack adequate
