Itarsi-Jabalpur Belt Gets New Daily Passenger Train As Railways Approves Fresh Service
Itarsi-Jabalpur belt gets a new daily passenger train, with Indian Railways approving the introduction of Train No. 51673/51674 Itarsi-Madan Mahal Passenger, officials announced on Saturday.
The new service marks a significant step towards strengthening rail connectivity across central Madhya Pradesh, linking Itarsi and Jabalpur (Madan Mahal) while improving travel options for passengers at several intermediate stations.

Itarsi-Jabalpur New Train Timings And Route Details Announced
Itarsi-Jabalpur route will see Train No. 51673 Itarsi-Madan Mahal Passenger depart from Itarsi Junction at 11:40 hrs and arrive at Madan Mahal at 16:45 hrs. In the return direction, Train No. 51674 Madan Mahal-Itarsi Passenger will leave Madan Mahal at 17:50 hrs and reach Itarsi Junction at 22:55 hrs.
The daily passenger service will cover a distance of 242 km in approximately 5 hours and 5 minutes. Officials said the train has been designed to run every day, offering commuters a reliable and consistent travel option along this stretch of central Madhya Pradesh.
Itarsi-Jabalpur Train To Halt At Nine Intermediate Stations
Itarsi-Jabalpur passenger service will have commercial stoppages at Bagra Tawa, Sohagpur, Pipariya, Bankhedi, Salichauka Road, Gadarwara, Kareli, Narsinghpur and Sridham. Railway officials said these stops are expected to provide improved rail access to passengers travelling from these smaller stations, many of which have limited direct connectivity at present.
The inclusion of these intermediate halts is aimed at ensuring that residents of smaller towns along the route are not left out of the benefits of the new service, particularly those who rely on affordable rail travel for short and medium distances.
Itarsi-Jabalpur Service Seen As Regional Connectivity Boost
Railway officials said the Itarsi-Madan Mahal passenger service holds significance from the perspective of regional connectivity rather than merely point-to-point travel between two major stations. The service is expected to provide affordable and daily access to the intermediate towns and smaller stations of the Jabalpur-Narmadapuram belt, while also connecting two major railway nodes, Jabalpur and Itarsi.
Officials said the train particularly caters to middle-class, unreserved and short-distance passengers who depend on daily or frequent rail travel. Such a service is also expected to perform an important feeder and distribution function, facilitating access to employment, education, medical care, commercial activity and pilgrimage centres along the route.
Itarsi Junction To Offer Onward Connectivity Across India
Officials highlighted that the new service also enables onward connectivity from Itarsi to major destinations in other parts of India, given Itarsi Junction’s position as a key railway node. This means passengers travelling from smaller stations along the Itarsi-Jabalpur belt will be able to access wider national rail networks more conveniently through Itarsi.
Railway officials said the introduction of the new daily passenger service is expected to enhance regional connectivity, facilitate convenient and affordable travel for daily commuters and other passengers, and further strengthen the overall rail transport network in Madhya Pradesh.
