Man Rescued After Climbing Water Tank in Sheopur

Madhya Pradesh: A man was rescued after spending nearly five hours atop a 100-foot water tank in Madhya Pradesh’s Sheopur district on Saturday, prompting a major police response and temporary disruption near the town’s bus stand.

The incident took place in Vijaypur town, where the man climbed the elevated water tank. Videos circulating on social media showed him sitting on top of the structure as a crowd gathered below. Police and local officials reached the scene and began efforts to persuade him to come down safely.

According to police, the man was safely brought down after several hours of negotiations. No injuries were reported.

According to local residents, the man was distressed after his wife allegedly left their home around 15 days ago. However, police have not officially confirmed the reason behind his actions and said the matter is under investigation.

Witnesses said the man repeatedly asked to speak with members of the media while he remained on the tank. After descending, he told police he had earlier approached authorities regarding the matter but believed his complaint had not received adequate attention.

He reportedly said he climbed the water tank to draw attention to his grievance.

The incident attracted a large crowd near the bus stand, briefly affecting traffic and normal activities in the area. Police deployed additional personnel to manage the crowd and ensure public safety.

Police said the man was taken into custody for questioning. Officials added that his claims would be examined and further action, if any, would be taken based on the findings. No casualties or damage were reported.
