MP Boxers Anjali Singh and Mahi Lama Leave for Commonwealth Camp in Scotland

Two women boxers from the Madhya Pradesh State Boxing Academy, Anjali Singh and Mahi Lama, have left for Glasgow, Scotland, after being selected for the Commonwealth Boxing Camp, which will be held from 10 to 24 July.

Anjali Singh will compete in the 57kg category, while Mahi Lama will represent the 60kg category. During the camp, the two athletes will train alongside leading boxers from Commonwealth countries, gaining international exposure ahead of upcoming global competitions.

The training camp will provide world-class coaching, advanced fitness programmes and sparring sessions with international athletes. Officials said the experience will help both boxers improve their technical skills, physical fitness and competitive performance.

The Madhya Pradesh State Boxing Academy, run by the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, has produced several national and international medal winners over the years. The academy provides modern training facilities, experienced coaches and scientific fitness support to prepare athletes for elite competition.

Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang congratulated the two boxers on their selection and said the opportunity would play an important role in their sporting careers.

He said the international training camp would help both athletes sharpen their skills and prepare them for future international tournaments while bringing recognition to both Madhya Pradesh and India.

The state government said the selection of the two athletes reflects its continued investment in sports infrastructure and athlete development. Under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the government has focused on providing international-level training opportunities, modern sports facilities and greater exposure for talented athletes from the state.

Officials said the achievements of players from Madhya Pradesh continue to strengthen the state’s reputation as an emerging sports hub, with athletes regularly performing well at national and international events.
