Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government on Sunday transferred Rs 1,460.25 crore in crop insurance claims to the bank accounts of more than 10.54 lakh farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2025 season.
Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav released the funds through a single-click digital transfer shortly after the state Cabinet meeting held in Jagdishpur.
According to the state government, the financial assistance has been provided to farmers whose crops were affected during the Kharif 2025 season under the provisions of the crop insurance scheme.
Addressing the programme, the chief minister said the state government remains committed to supporting farmers during difficult circumstances. He urged cultivators to insure their notified crops before the prescribed deadline so they can receive financial assistance in the event of crop losses caused by adverse weather or other natural factors.
CM also referred to forecasts indicating the possibility of an unfavourable monsoon due to the expected impact of El Niño, and advised farmers to complete the insurance process within the stipulated time.
State Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Edal Singh Kansana said that under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the state has paid Rs 30,942.34 crore in insurance claims to affected farmers between 2016-17 and 2024-25.
The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana provides insurance cover against crop losses arising from natural calamities, adverse weather conditions and other notified risks, with the aim of reducing financial hardship for farmers.
The latest disbursement is part of the state’s ongoing implementation of the central crop insurance scheme, aimed at providing timely financial support to eligible beneficiaries.
