MP Police Nab 18 Drug Peddlers in Three-Day Operation

State-wide crackdown seizes drugs and vehicles worth over Rs 82 lakh across Neemuch, Mandsaur, Indore, Bhopal and other districts

Madhya Pradesh Police have arrested 18 people and seized drugs and vehicles worth more than Rs 82 lakh in a three-day crackdown across several districts.

The action is part of the state’s ongoing “Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0” campaign, which aims to warn young people and the public about the dangers of drug abuse, alongside stricter action against those involved in the illegal drug trade.

In Neemuch district, Jeeran police seized 175 kg of illegal poppy husk from a truck and arrested one accused, with the seized goods worth around Rs 26.25 lakh. In a separate case, Ratangarh police recovered 120 kg of poppy husk from a Maruti SX4 car and arrested another accused, seizing assets worth close to Rs 18 lakh.

In Mandsaur district, Suvasara police arrested three peddlers from Gujarat with 80 grams of MD drugs and poppy husk worth around Rs 1.6 lakh. Narayangarh police arrested two inter-state opium smugglers from Haryana, recovering 1.1 kg of illegal opium, a Scorpio vehicle and two mobile phones, together worth nearly Rs 21.94 lakh.

In Ashoknagar, Naisarai police recovered 63 kg of green cannabis from a village, worth an estimated Rs 6.3 lakh. In Khargone, police arrested two accused with 5.1 kg of cannabis and seized a motorcycle used in the smuggling, together worth around Rs 2.5 lakh. A case has been registered against them under the NDPS Act.

In Shivpuri, police at Narwar arrested one person and seized 7.2 grams of smack along with a motorcycle, worth about Rs 1.3 lakh. In Indore, Khajrana police arrested one person and seized over 12 grams of MD drugs worth around Rs 1.2 lakh.

In Narsinghpur, Themi police arrested a smack peddler and seized 11.10 grams of smack and a mobile phone, worth about Rs 1.1 lakh. In Guna, Kotwali police arrested two peddlers with 10 kg of cannabis worth around Rs 1 lakh.

The GRP in Jabalpur arrested a woman peddler and seized 3 kg of cannabis worth about Rs 1.04 lakh. In Katni, Dhimarkheda police seized over 2.5 kg of cannabis and a vehicle, arresting two accused, with the seizure valued at Rs 33,000.

In Bhopal, the Crime Branch arrested three people with 7.8 kg of cannabis, while Shahjahanabad police arrested one person with 4 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs 4,000. Cases have been registered under the NDPS Act in both instances.

Madhya Pradesh Police said the crackdown on those involved in the illegal drug trade will continue as part of efforts to make the state drug-free and safer.
