Raipur: Vijay Sharma Village Development initiatives received a fresh push on Friday as Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma announced road and infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 1 crore during his visit to villages in Kabirdham district. He also interacted with residents, heard their demands and approved several development works on the spot.
During a public outreach programme in Bhendra Navagaon and Pirchatola villages under Sahaspur Lohara block, Sharma met villagers and listened to their concerns while sitting among them. He said the State Government remained committed to the overall development of rural areas and would continue to approve projects aimed at improving public infrastructure.
Vijay Sharma Village Development Focuses on Roads and Rural Infrastructure
Sharma announced the construction of a road from Botesur to Navagaon at a cost of more than Rs 1 crore. He also approved a road project worth Rs 5.20 lakh in Pirchatola and said a proposal for a culvert under the VBG Gram Yojana would be prepared for approval.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister said several works had already been completed in villages including Bhendra Navagaon and Botesur. These include community halls, CC roads, borewells, open-air stages, boundary walls and internal electrification.
He also reviewed the construction of a mini stadium worth Rs 51 lakh in Surajpura Panchayat. Sharma directed officials to organise regular sports competitions and ensure participation from youth in 15 to 20 nearby villages to encourage sporting talent and community engagement.
Housing, Farming and Rural Economy in Focus
Highlighting the government’s housing programme, Sharma said 40 houses had been approved in Pirchatola, 57 in Surajpura, 61 in Pendratarai, 65 in Baigapara and 75 in Botesur under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
He said the State Government had approved 18 lakh houses in its first Cabinet meeting after assuming office and that 11 lakh houses had already been completed over the past two and a half years.
The Deputy Chief Minister also encouraged women self-help groups to expand dairy farming and other income-generating activities. He said the government would support groups that prepared viable business plans.
Speaking on agriculture, Sharma urged farmers to adopt natural and organic farming methods. He said sustainable farming could improve incomes while reducing dependence on chemical fertilisers. Referring to examples from Bastar, Kondagaon and Narayanpur, he said farmers in those districts had achieved encouraging results through organic cultivation.
Sharma also said the government had separated agricultural and domestic electricity feeders in several villages to improve power supply. He added that efforts were also being made to resolve pending electricity bill issues through government schemes.
District Panchayat President Ishwari Sahu, Nagar Panchayat President Sarita Santosh Mishra, Janpad Panchayat President Durga Patel, Vice-President Ashok Patel and other public representatives attended the programme along with a large number of villagers.
“The Chhattisgarh Government is committed to the overall development of villages and is continuously approving projects that improve rural infrastructure and livelihoods,” Vijay Sharma said.
