Gujarat Outplay Bengaluru to Clinch Four-Wicket Win

Gujarat defeated Bengaluru by four wickets in an IPL 2026 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday, chasing 156 with 25 balls to spare.

Gujarat produced a clinical all-round performance as Bengaluru endured a rare off day, failing to capitalise on a chance to move to the top of the table. The hosts also avenged their earlier defeat in Bengaluru this season.

Put in to bat, Bengaluru were bowled out for 155  their lowest first-innings total of the campaign. Virat Kohli made a brisk 28, including five consecutive boundaries off Kagiso Rabada, but fell attempting another aggressive stroke. A 44-run stand between Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar offered stability before regular wickets derailed the innings.

Arshad Khan led the bowling effort with three wickets, while Jason Holder impressed with two wickets and three catches.

In reply, Gujarat made a strong start through Shubman Gill, who scored 43, and later Jos Buttler added 39 to keep the chase on track. Despite a brief wobble triggered by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who took three wickets, the target never looked out of reach.

A steady partnership between Holder and Rahul Tewatia, who remained unbeaten on 27, guided Gujarat home, with Rashid Khan hitting the winning boundary.
