Gwalior: An alleged burglary attempt in Gwalior took an unexpected turn when a suspected thief was caught after falling from a stool inside the house he had entered.
The incident took place on Sunday in Hurawali Colony under the Sirol police station area. Police said the accused, Ashish Jatav alias Mota, allegedly broke the lock of a house owned by Vakil Singh Yadav and entered the property during the night.

According to investigators, the accused first targeted two lockers kept in the house. He allegedly collected Rs 7,000 in cash, artificial jewellery and a Lord Krishna idol from the prayer room and packed the items into a backpack.
Police said the accused then tried to search for more valuables. He climbed onto a stool to reach items stored above a cupboard. However, he lost his balance and fell to the floor along with the stool.
The loud noise woke up homeowner Vakil Singh Yadav, who was sleeping on the first floor. He rushed downstairs and found a man inside the house carrying a red backpack.
Yadav immediately raised an alarm and called family members and neighbours. Residents gathered at the spot and managed to catch the accused before he could escape.
After receiving information, police reached the house and took the accused into custody. During questioning, he identified himself as Ashish Jatav alias Mota, a resident of Srinagar Colony in Thatipur.
The accused suffered injuries to his head and leg in the fall and was taken to the district hospital for treatment.
Police said more than 25 criminal cases have already been registered against the accused. Further investigation is underway.
