CM Yadav To Inaugurate Four New Direct Flight Services On Sunday

CM Dr Mohan Yadav will launch four new direct air services from Madhya Pradesh at an event scheduled at Raja Bhoj Airport, Bhopal, on Sunday, 9 August. The new routes include Bhopal-Rewa, Bhopal-Patna, Rewa-Kolkata and Jabalpur-Kolkata, and will be operated by Alliance Air.

CM Yadav To Flag Off First Bhopal-Rewa Flight

CM Yadav will flag off the first flight on the Bhopal-Rewa route during the launch event. Officials said the new services will strengthen both internal and inter-state air connectivity for Madhya Pradesh. All four routes are being financially supported under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Aviation Policy, with the state government providing viability gap funding (VGF) of up to Rs 10 lakh per round trip.

CM Prioritises Expansion Of Air Connectivity

The state government has continued to prioritise the expansion of air connectivity in recent years. Under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Aviation Policy 2025, efforts are being made to connect various cities in the state with major destinations across the country and provide citizens with convenient, safe and time-bound travel options.

Officials said 8 new air routes have been approved under the policy so far. Of these, air services have already begun on four routes, while services on the remaining four routes, including the ones launching on Sunday, are now being introduced. The routes launched earlier under the policy include Rewa-Delhi, Rewa-Indore, Rewa-Raipur and Indore-Abu Dhabi.

New Routes To Strengthen Connectivity Within State And With Other States

The Bhopal-Rewa direct air service is expected to strengthen air connectivity within the state, particularly between the capital Bhopal and the Vindhya region. Similarly, the Bhopal-Patna direct flight will connect Madhya Pradesh’s capital directly with Bihar’s capital, easing travel between the two states and benefiting the large Bihari population residing in Madhya Pradesh, along with passengers, traders and businesspeople.

The introduction of direct air services between Rewa-Kolkata and Jabalpur-Kolkata is expected to strengthen air connectivity between these two important cities of Madhya Pradesh and Kolkata, as well as the wider Eastern India region.

New Flights Expected To Save Travel Time And Boost Development

Officials said the new direct air services will allow residents of Madhya Pradesh to reach their destinations in significantly less time compared to longer journeys by other modes of transport. The expansion of air connectivity is expected to ease passenger movement while improving links between different cities.

The introduction of these new air services is also expected to give a boost to tourism, trade, education and economic activity in the state, while providing citizens with improved travel options overall.

Senior Central And State Officials To Attend Launch Event

The launch event is expected to be attended by several senior dignitaries, including Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, Union Civil Aviation Ministry Secretary Sameer Kumar Sinha, Airport Authority of India Chairman Vipin Kumar, and Alliance Air Chairman Amit Kumar.

Also expected to attend are Additional Chief Secretary (Aviation) Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Aviation Commissioner Chandramouli Shukla, and Bhopal Airport Director Alok Tripathi, along with other officials.
