Bhopal: A 33-year-old woman from rural Bhopal has accused her nephew of rape and allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison. According to media reports, police registered a case against the accused after recording the woman’s statement during her treatment at a hospital.
The woman, who lives with her husband in a village under the Misrod police station area, alleged that the accused entered her house on June 5 when her husband was away and sexually assaulted her.
According to media reports, the woman alleged that the accused repeatedly committed the offence on several occasions. She claimed that she informed her husband and family members about the alleged incidents, but no action was taken against the accused.
Police said the woman consumed a poisonous substance on June 9 after becoming distressed over the situation. She was admitted to a hospital, where she narrated the incident to authorities.
Based on her statement, police registered a rape case against the accused. The accused is reportedly absconding, and efforts are underway to trace him. The investigation is ongoing.
