GWALIOR: A man allegedly tried to set his own loading vehicle on fire before attempting self-immolation following a dispute over money in Gwalior on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred at a busy crossroads between 2 pm and 3 pm. A passer-by recorded the episode on a mobile phone, and the video has since gone viral on social media.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver became involved in an argument with a shopkeeper over a financial dispute. As the altercation escalated, he allegedly poured petrol on his vehicle and set it ablaze before pouring petrol over himself and attempting to set himself on fire.
The flames spread to the man’s head and face. A bystander quickly intervened and extinguished the fire, preventing more serious injuries. The driver sustained burns to his face, while others at the scene helped bring the situation under control.
The injured man’s identity has not been officially confirmed, and authorities have not released details about his condition.
Police said no formal complaint had been lodged by either party. Officers are examining the viral video and other available evidence to determine the circumstances leading to the incident. They said appropriate legal action will be taken if a complaint is received and based on the findings of the investigation.
