NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old woman, married 72 days ago, died after falling from a residential building in Delhi’s Lodhi Colony area on Saturday evening. Her family has alleged foul play and accused her husband and in-laws of murder, while police have initiated a probe on the safer side.
Police said the woman was found injured after the fall from a government residential complex. She was taken to AIIMS, where doctors declared her dead.
The woman had married on April 24 and worked as a sales executive. According to her family, she left her workplace as usual and spoke to them before her phone became unreachable. They later learnt through police that she had died after the incident.
Her family has rejected the possibility of suicide and alleged that she was killed by her husband and in-laws. They have demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances.
Delhi Police said proceedings under Section 196 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been initiated and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate has been informed for the mandatory inquest. Officials said all aspects are being verified and the investigation is continuing on the safer side.
