Action Against Encroachments, Illegal Colonies

The district administration on Thursday removed around 12 permanent structures that were coming in the way of a proposed 10-lane road project in Bhopal during a joint operation with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Officials said the structures were located on land acquired for the project in Bilkharia Kalan village. Notices had been issued to the occupants before the demolition drive.

In a separate operation, authorities continued their crackdown on unauthorised colony developments in the Huzur subdivision. Action was taken in Bilkharia, Barkheda Nathu and Kalkheda, where residential layouts were allegedly being developed without the required approvals.

Roads and boundary walls constructed within the unauthorised colonies were demolished during the drive. Officials said developers had been directed not to undertake colony development without obtaining statutory permissions.

The administration said five major enforcement drives against unauthorised colony developments have been carried out in the subdivision over the past 10 days.
