BHOPAL: A 28-year-old woman died after her condition deteriorated following the intake of medication at her home in Bhopal’s Bairagarh area, police said.
According to preliminary information, the woman had a history of high blood pressure and recurring stomach pain. Family members told police that she took medicine after experiencing stomach discomfort on Sunday night. They suspect that she may have accidentally consumed a diabetes medicine prescribed to her mother along with her own medication.
Soon after taking the medicines, her health reportedly worsened. She was taken to a private hospital, where doctors began treatment. However, she died during treatment in the early hours of Monday.
Hospital authorities informed the police, who initiated legal proceedings and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The body was later handed over to the family.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation. Officials said the exact cause of death will be established only after the post-mortem report and further inquiry. Statements of family members are being recorded as part of the investigation.
The incident has left the family grieving, while authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the death.
