CM reaffirms MP government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Wednesday reiterated the state government’s commitment to improving farmers’ incomes through modern agriculture, natural farming and dairy production.

Addressing the Balram Krishi Mahotsav in Pandhurna virtually from Bhopal, the CM said the government was working to connect farmers with advanced technology and welfare schemes.

He said Pandhurna was a major producer of wheat, maize, gram, tur and oranges. A survey was also under way to assess the impact of below-normal rainfall, with assistance to be provided to affected farmers.

During the programme, progressive farmers shared their experiences of natural farming, orange cultivation, dairy production and integrated farming. One farmer reported earning an annual income of up to Rs 20 lakh through orange cultivation.

Women involved in producing khadi products and seed jewellery also shared their achievements.

Progressive farmers, meritorious students and five livestock rearers were honoured under the Gopal Krishna Gram Puraskar Yojana.
