A 32-year-old man died after being hit by a train while crossing a railway track in Bhopal’s Aishbagh area late on Tuesday night. Police said initial findings suggest he was looking at his mobile phone while attempting to cross the tracks.
According to police, the victim, Manish Prajapati, was a resident of the Neemwali Road area in Jahangirabad and worked for a private company.
He had dinner at home and left at around 11:30 p.m. for a walk. Police said he was also on his way to meet a friend who lives in the Aishbagh area.
The accident took place near Barkhedi while he was crossing the railway tracks on foot. He was struck by an oncoming train and died at the scene due to the impact.
After receiving information about the incident, Aishbagh police reached the spot and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
The body was handed over to the family on Wednesday after the post-mortem. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances of the accident. Initial inquiries indicate that the incident occurred while the victim was crossing the railway tracks, though all aspects of the case are being examined.
