MP to Provide Daytime Power for Farm Irrigation, Says CM Mohan Yadav

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday said the Madhya Pradesh Government will gradually provide adequate electricity during the daytime for farm irrigation, reducing the need for farmers to work in their fields at night.

He said agriculture and farmers remain the government’s highest priority as it continues to expand irrigation, improve rural infrastructure and raise farm income.

Addressing the Kisan Samriddhi Sankalp Sammelan at Kalapipal in Shajapur district, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 12 development projects worth Rs 30.86 crore.

He said the state’s irrigated area has now crossed 55 lakh hectares, helping increase agricultural production. The government, he added, is taking several policy decisions during the Farmer Welfare Year to strengthen farming and improve rural livelihoods.

Mohan Yadav said major river-linking projects, including the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) Project and the Ken-Betwa River Link Project, will bring irrigation to lakhs of hectares across Madhya Pradesh. He added that every village in Shajapur district will receive Narmada water as the government speeds up work on the project.

The Chief Minister also announced that farmers will soon be able to take a single crop loan for the entire year instead of applying separately for Kharif and Rabi seasons. He said the move will make access to farm credit easier.

Speaking on agriculture, Yadav said the government would continue efforts to reduce farming costs, increase production and ensure farmers receive fair prices for their produce. He also announced support for natural farming and additional assistance for cattle rearers to boost milk production.

On women’s welfare, the Chief Minister said nearly Rs 60,000 crore has so far been transferred to beneficiaries under the Ladli Behna Yojana, helping improve their financial independence.

Highlighting employment, he said industrial investment in Madhya Pradesh is creating new opportunities for young people in both government and private sectors. He added that the state remains committed to improving roads, irrigation, education, healthcare and other public infrastructure.

During the programme, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects related to education, roads, bridges, healthcare, community buildings, panchayat infrastructure, anganwadi centres and irrigation works. The combined value of these projects is Rs 30.86 crore.

Yadav also joined the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign by planting a sapling and took part in a plantation drive under the Har Bhara Kalapipal initiative, which aims to plant four lakh trees. He urged people to take part in tree plantation and protect the environment for future generations.

Farmers welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting a traditional plough and garlands, while women farmers tied rakhis as a mark of respect. Beneficiaries of government welfare schemes also received assistance during the event.

Higher Education, Technical Education and AYUSH Minister Inder Singh Parmar said Shajapur is emerging as an education hub with new medical and ayurvedic colleges. Member of Parliament Mahendra Singh Solanki said development work in the region has gained momentum under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

Before reaching the venue, the Chief Minister held a roadshow through Kalapipal, where residents, traders and social organisations welcomed him at several points along the route.
