BHOPAL: A 15-year-old boy died after drowning in the city’s Lower Lake area under the Jahangirabad police station limits, police said.
According to police, the teenager had accompanied his mother to a park on Saturday evening. While his mother remained in the park, the boy entered the lake to bathe.
During the swim, he reportedly moved into deeper water and began to drown. People nearby responded to calls for help and pulled him from the water. He was still breathing when he was rescued and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
However, he later died during treatment, officials said.
Police reached the hospital after receiving information about the incident and sent the body for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
Preliminary findings suggest the boy drowned after entering deep water while bathing. Police are examining all aspects of the incident.
