INDORE: Residents of Scheme No. 136 in Indore staged a protest on Sunday over a prolonged water shortage and demanded immediate action from local authorities to restore regular water supply.
More than 100 residents gathered in the area and raised concerns about what they described as a worsening water crisis that has affected the locality for several months. Protesters said the situation has become increasingly difficult for households as regular water supply has nearly stopped.
Residents urged authorities to take concrete steps to resolve the issue. They said tenders for a new water supply pipeline had already been issued, but the work order for the project has not yet been released, delaying the start of the work.
The protesters also alleged that private water tankers were being supplied at high prices, forcing residents to spend additional money to meet their daily water needs. They called for an impartial investigation into the matter and claimed that an artificial shortage of water was being created in the area.
According to residents, complaints regarding the issue have already been submitted to the municipal administration, but no significant improvement has been seen so far.
Residents warned that if water supply is not restored soon and the pending pipeline project does not begin, they will launch a larger public agitation and intensify their protests in the coming days.
