MP Govt Focuses on Farmers’ Welfare

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday said farmers’ welfare remains the state government’s highest priority, highlighting a series of initiatives being carried out under the Krishak Kalyan Varsh 2026 programme.

Addressing the Balram Krishi Mahotsav in Khargone virtually from Datia, Yadav said the state had organised workshops on modern farming practices and agricultural technology during the first half of the year. According to the state government, the second phase focuses on district-level Balram Krishi Mahotsavs, which began in Indore on July 15 and continued with an event in Alirajpur on July 23.

The chief minister said the irrigated area in Madhya Pradesh has been expanding steadily and that adequate electricity is being provided to support agricultural activities. He also referred to an initiative under the Krishak Kalyan Varsh in which farmers travelling to towns on two-wheelers to sell milk and vegetables are being provided helmets to improve road safety.

CM said Balram Krishi Mahotsavs and other agriculture-related programmes will continue across all districts until Nov. 13. He added that the events are aimed at promoting improved farming practices and supporting the overall development of farmers, women, young people and economically weaker sections, in line with the Centre’s stated priorities.

Encouraging farmers to adopt advanced agricultural techniques, the chief minister said modern farming methods could help increase productivity and income. He also said the state government has ensured the participation of 16 departments in the Krishak Kalyan Varsh initiative to implement a roadmap for enhancing farmers’ earnings.

According to the state government, the Khargone event was attended by farmers, public representatives, officials and local residents.
